Jasmine has been training me (and my Shepherds) for 20 years. I trust her judgment and skills completely. Our dogs love to see her and have a lot of fun in her classes. She is constantly thinking of new ways to incorporate environmental and social work into our training. I constantly get comments from people about how well behaved my dogs are and I attribute it to taking classes with her and her love for dogs! Over the years I had a reactive dog, a fearful dog and a rescue with confidence issues. She has helped me with each one of my four dogs over the years. Much thanks FDO!
Family Dog obedience is more than a name, it is the way you train. When you become part of the Family Dog Obedience community you are just that – family. Jasmine has helped me train my dogs in obedience, agility, rally and through many life changes. Jasmine came highly recommended from a very dear friend. I needed behavioral help in training a rescued GSD with socialization issues. Upon meeting Jasmine, I instantly couldn’t learn enough from her. Jasmine teaches you what your dog needs from you and how they need you to behave. I continued training my dog with her, not just because I looked forward to it every week, but because my dog was engaged and excited! That very dear friend of mine – years later became my husband. Along came the need to blend our “only dogs” into a multi-dog house. Jasmine did private lessons with us to help ensure the success of our newly formed family. As time went on we added a crazy young Dutch Shepherd to the pack. Once again Jasmine taught us how to manage the “chaos” that comes with this high drive breed. Life changed for us once again, as we brought a daughter into the world. Jasmine was with us every step of the way. We began preparing our entire family (4 and 2 legged) for a new way of life. With Jasmines help we were able to transition the dogs with minimal stress, learned the difference between guarding and protecting, and put to rest all doubt that a high-drive breed couldn’t live in harmony with a new born. To this day we continue to go to training classes and canine/humane environmental social outings. Our daughter is now 4 and is as much a part of the family dog community as we are. She has learned how to properly interact with dogs and enjoys being a “training assistant” whenever the need arises. No matter what your training, behavioral, or family needs are Jasmine will work with you to ensure a rock solid canine/human relationship. I met Jasmine ten years ago ! It has been an Amazing journey and one I will treasure forever. Jasmine is very focused on our four legged babies and wants nothing but the BEST for them. Because of that, she is VERY passionate about what she does. I respect her opinion without hesitation." Holly Leslie is a three yr old Labrador Retriever trained to assist her ranch manager owner. Not only is she an amazing retriever, retrieving bird supper for her family, but she also assists her owner in tracking hunted deer that "got away". Land management is crucial for the environment so Jasmine has trained Holly to track wounded deer. Holly and her owner also assist other ranchers with land management.
-2019 15 years ago Jasmine helped me train my hunting partner, Belle. since then 3 rescues (SaGE, Kinley & Elmo) have also come to train, the most challenging (for me) has been Kinley – a sweet but strong, wild and exuberant adolescent with no social skills. Obviously raised in a concrete kennel with some apparent shock collar work, she was abandoned in LA when she may have been deemed too hard to hunt. because of her strength and boundless energy it was easy for me to become frustrated with her. Jasmine taught me how to communicate through positive training. Kinley aka ‘Bons Temps Rouler’ has recently earned her AKC Novice 10 trick title! Plus we are now having fun with each other! Jasmine has shown me what a relationship with my dog can really be. We have such fun, and have learned tricks, skills and basic social obedience that impresses everyone we meet. When my husband and I rescued our dog, Jazzie, he was afraid of everything and attacked people, kids, cats, and other dogs. He never bit anyone but it was a full out attack. I was frustrated and embarrassed to have my dog attack and he really bad with little kids, including my grandchildren. I had been to several other trainers with no improvement, when my vet recommended Jasmine Skala. She is a miracle worker. I now have control of my dog because Jasmine has trained me and Jazz. I can walk him without fear he will attack people and other dogs. I can talk to my neighbors without Jazz barking and attacking. I am so happy with the training Jasmine has given me and I continue to attend classes to enrich Jazzie's life. Jasmine's relationship based approach to dog training is tailored to each dog. I am on my fourth dog. It isn't always smooth, but it is always what works for that dog. I met Jasmine in 2006. I had a spotted pup named Cassie. We went from the "sit" command to a Doggie Drill Team half-time show for the Silver Stars. Fast forward to 2017 and I'm starting all over again with "sit" and my new pup, Maizy. Who knows where she'll go? Already we have weekly outings that include Southerleigh's at The Pearl, La Madeleine's, swimming in the Guadallupe River and her first AKC Certificate... and Maizy is only 9 months old! I have enormous respect for Jasmine. She will teach YOU to teach your dog.. Jasmine shares her vast experience easily and only wants the BEST for you and your dog. Jasmine Skala has been indispensable when it has come to guiding us thru training our dog. We have been with her since our Siberian Husky, Thorne, was a few months old and is going on 5. He was escaping from his crate and destroying things. She assisted us with how to properly train our dog Thorne and provide boundaries. The greatest testimonial comes from our dogs themselves. Our social outings are always fun, interesting and peaks the interest of people walking by. Some will even stop to chat and comment about how well behaved our dogs are. We can sit and enjoy each other's company, take in training tips from Jasmine and show off how nice outings can be with your furry companion by your side.
For about a decade Jasmine has been helping me with my rescue by evaluating dogs that come in, and giving advice on training to get them ready for their new homes. Sometimes the dogs come in malnourished, scared, and ill-mannered and we work on getting them healthy both physically and mentally. She has helped my foster dogs in more ways than I can say and she has been a gift to our rescue. Both dogs here were strays taken in off the street and both got loving homes! |
